This manual covers safe installation, day-to-day operation, cleaning and troubleshooting for the Borrelli Double Bowl Sink. Please read it before operating the unit.

1. Safety

Please follow these precautions when installing, using and cleaning the sink.

• Have all water supply and waste connections carried out by a licensed plumber, in line with local plumbing regulations.
• The sink is heavy — use enough people or equipment to lift and position it. Do not lift it by the drainer, taps or bowl edges.
• Do not sit, stand on, or place heavy loads on the sink top, drainer or undershelf.
• Do not pour fats, oils or grease down the waste — they solidify and block the drain.
• Keep the floor around the sink dry to reduce the risk of slips.
• Take care with knives or sharp utensils left in the bowl or hidden under soapy water.

2. Installation

Before use

• Remove all packaging and peel off the protective film from the stainless surfaces.
• Wash the sink and drainer with warm, soapy water before first use.

Positioning

• Stand the sink on a firm, level floor able to take its weight when the bowls are full.
• Screw the adjustable feet in or out until the sink is level and stable — check with a spirit level.
• Leave access behind the sink for the waste and trap.

Plumbing

• Connect the 40 mm waste outlet to the building drainage through a water trap, using approved fittings and seals.
• Fit the standpipe plug and the removable scrap trap into the corner drain.
• If a tap is fitted, connect the hot and cold supply; taps and plumbing must be installed by a licensed plumber.
• Where the splashback meets a wall, seal the join with food-safe silicone.

3. Care and Cleaning

Everyday cleaning

• Rinse the sink and drainer with clean water after use to remove detergent and food residues.
• Wipe with a soft cloth or sponge and a mild detergent, working in the direction of the steel grain.
• Dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and mineral (tea) staining.

Weekly or deeper clean

• For stubborn marks, use a proprietary stainless steel cleaner or a paste of bicarbonate of soda and water.
• Always rub along the grain, then rinse thoroughly and dry.

Surface rust or tea staining

• Brown specks are usually iron particles from other cookware, not the sink itself.
• Remove them with a stainless cleaner or bicarb paste, then rinse and dry.

4. Everyday Use

The sink is designed for continuous commercial use. A little routine care keeps the stainless steel looking new.

Daily routine

• Empty and rinse the removable scrap trap at the end of each service.
• Rinse the bowls and drainer with clean water, then dry with a soft cloth.
• Do not leave standing water, salt or acidic foods on the surface overnight.

Protecting the finish

• Do not leave cast-iron or carbon-steel items sitting in the bowl – they transfer iron that rusts.
• Keeping the steel clean and dry maintains its passive layer and corrosion resistance.
• In coastal or humid areas, clean more often to prevent tea staining – surface discolouration rather than a fault in the steel.

Routine checks

• Clear the standpipe and flush the drain to keep water flowing freely.
• Check the adjustable feet and re-level the sink if the floor settles.
• Inspect the waste, trap and any tap connections for leaks; tighten or reseal as needed.

5. Tips and Tricks

Follow these tips to get the best performance, efficiency and lifespan from the sink.

Placement

• Stand the sink on a firm, level floor.
• Leave access behind the sink for the waste and trap.

Protecting the finish

• Rub only along the grain of the steel.
• Rinse off any spilt bleach or chloride cleaner immediately.
